Obituary of C. Lyle McCandless

McCANDLESS, C. Lyle, of St. Thomas, formerly of Fingal, passed into the presence of his Lord at the Valleyview Home on Saturday, July 7, 2018, in his 98^th year.  Beloved husband of the late Doris (née Grainger) McCandless (2013).  Dearly loved father of John (Joan) of RR1, Port Stanley, David (Sandra), Priscilla VanderFeyst (Richard), all of St. Thomas, Philip (Marilyn) of Thedford, Ruth Haldenby (Jeff) of Aylmer, and Stephen (Heidi) of Burks Falls.  Also fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families.  Lyle was the last surviving member of his own immediate family, having been predeceased by a sister, Jean, and four brothers, Donald, Ray, Norman, and Allen McCandless.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, May 3, 1921, he was the son of the late Herman and Lillie (née Boyd) McCandless.  Lyle farmed for many years in the Fingal area.  He also worked in Central Supply at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for 14 years.   Lyle was in fellowship with the Christians Gathered in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Gospel Hall), 1 Sunset Dr., St. Thomas.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Tuesday evening, July 10^th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) and one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at the Gospel Hall, 1 Sunset Dr., St. Thomas on Wednesday, July 11^th at 2:00 p.m.  Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
