I don't quite remember exactly how old I was when I remember Ron stopping by the Cummings farm, 10 ish perhaps, he was always with Garnet, driving a smelly old diesel....likely a ford, best case a dodge. Those two were like peas and carrots, always together. They were always good for a laugh and seemed to be enjoying farm life. It would be another couple years before Ron would become a full time fixture in what would become my ever expanding "new" family. I wasn't around much longer (4 years) before I made my journey out west but in that short time Ron with the help of a few other amazing people from his circle (Blake,Carol, my grand father and Uncles) filled a void that helped me become who I am. Ron was a friend more than a father figure, which is something i will remember always. He taught me that family doesn't have to be blood, very important. He had a calmness about him, never too excited, could take control of a situation a instill confidence or perhaps in our little household keep the peace. I always did enjoy talking with him about his trips south of the border, I'm lucky enough to be quite familiar with the USA from riding around with my father for the summers as a teen in his truck. Ron would tell me stories and get so specific about the details like "you know that truck stop off 95 before the big climb up out of the river" I'd just smile and nod thinking to myself i have no idea where the hell you are talking about but it's a good story. I'll miss his stories. I wish i could fish with him once more, or shoot the targets in the back yard. I know Ron would have no complaints though. He lived a simple, honest, hard working life, he lived it his way and I have nothing but admiration for that. Thank you for the guidance in life several of the times i needed it most Ron. I'll miss you.

Ron will be greatly missed in our “little neighbourhood”. He always enjoyed taking the kids fishing or to Tim’s for a coffee.
Going to miss his trucking stories of his many years on the road.
Rest In Peace Ron and enjoy the open road ahead of you shifting gears!
