Obituary of Mary C. Kelly (nee Carmichael)
KELLY, Mary C. (née Carmichael)- Of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in her 88th year. Beloved wife for over 58 years to the late Leonard W. “Len” Kelly (2015). Dearly loved mother of Allen (Julie), Wayne (Angela), and John Kelly (Nancy). Cherished grandmother of Andrew (Frances), Mark, Matthew (Kaydie), Christopher (Deanna), Noah, and the late Bradley Kelly. She was proud of her great grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Grace, Ben, and Isaac Kelly. Dear sister of (twin) James “J.D.” Carmichael, late Donna Hathaway, and the late Kenneth Carmichael. Mary is also fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Pauline Lindsay, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families. Born in Aldborough Twp., ON, October 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James and Myrtle (née Perrin) Carmichael. Mary worked as a nurse in the Obstetrics Dept. at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for many years. She was an active and much-loved member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas where she was a committed participant in the Outreach Circle. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and the interment of her cremated remains will be made privately in Elmdale Memorial Park. A private family memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). A properly worn mask or face covering is required. Memorial donations to the STEGH Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
