Regrettably, I was just informed of the passing of Mrs. Farley, a teacher at London South Collegiate during my days as a student at the school. Mrs. Farley was a well-respected and admired teacher at South and it was the school’s loss when she returned home to teach in the St. Thomas area. Bob, you know from our conversations how special Mrs. Farley was for me in my time as one of her students. Heather and I join in offering the most sincere condolences to you, Bob, and your family as you say goodbye to an incredible lady.

In loving memory of my dear sister, Lois....
She has always been a source of affection, inspiration, and support throughout my life. She lived her life well and to its fullest. She was strong, courageous, beautiful, and accomplished. May she rest in eternal peace and her spirit live on in those of us she touched so deeply with her love.
Much love, always,
Elaine

I loved the recount of Mrs. Farley's Very Exciting Life in her obituary. A wonderful read. I have SO many memories of Mrs. Farley, right down to being banned from birthday parties (so deserved and she gave me a second chance). I will always remember her as such a vibrant, smart, fashionable and worldly woman, and mostly as someone who lived life to the fullest. Lorrie

Mrs. Farley was my Grade 11 English teacher. When she retired she asked me to do her hair (backcombed and hairsprayed to the heavens) and borrow a dress I had that was covered in safety pins. She then rapped a song she wrote titled "Funky Lois Farley" to the tune Funky Cold Medina. For my efforts she gifted me with a bracelet from her store in Port Stanley that was made entirely of safety pins and silver beads. I smiled and thought of her every time I wore that bracelet. She was truly one of a kind.

Dear Bob, Janet, Kate, John and Martha,
What a remarkable woman Lois was... clearly ahead of her time and someone who contributed so much to our community.
I remember my mom, Lois, Helen Roberts and Anne Bridge heading off for girls weekends away, and hearing about all the interesting conversations they'd get into over wine and walks in the woods!
Please know we are holding you all in our hearts as you navigate this time of loss.
Warm hugs,
Rebecca Parkes-Hodge and Gary Hodge xo

After my mother, Doris Shaver, passed away in 2015, I wrote an elegiac song. Since then I have shared the lyrics with others who lose a parent. We lived in the same block as the Farley's and knew them well. Lois was so elegant and sophisticated, a beautiful mother. This is from our entire family.
A Time for Dying
Catherine M Thompson
Now is a time for dying
The grey tsunami is rolling in
Time for the old guard to fall out
And the new guard to fall in
Now is a time for crying
To grieve those passed away
To cast their ashes to the wind
And remember yesterday
Oh oh oh
Now is a time for sighing
As the burden falls to us
As we become the elders
And carry on the trust
This is a generation change
A time for long goodbyes
Did we learn enough to lead
The ones who come behind
Oh, now is a time for dying
For crying and sighing alone
For parents and loved ones
Who move along
And leave us on our own

The Farley Family has put together a montage of Lois's fabulous life.
Graduation from Fingal Public School, Family, Europe trip, Drum Majorette, and Queen of the Ball. Lois was 60 years old when the Drum Majorettes celebrated their 50th anniversary. She proudly marched the band into the stadium during Homecoming.

We have fond memories of Mrs. Lois Farley in English class at Arthur Voaden. My husband and I were both in her class and we sat across from one another. We can still see her sitting on her desk with her long blonde hair and big jewelry, and beautiful outfits. She was a great teacher and quite a character. John and Jane (Newman) Wachowiak

Not only was Lois a good family friend and next door neighbour, she was also a driving force that provided me with positive and strong support during my 6 years as Executive Director of the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre. I am grateful for her presence in my life, and I am thankful for her dedication and care to our community.
Lois was truly a beautiful and classy lady, inside and out! My deepest condolences to the Farley family. ❤️
