Obituary of Harry Edwin Jones

Of St. Thomas, ON, formerly of Union, with his family caring for him during his final days, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, November 28, 2019, in his 92^nd year.  Loving and caring husband of Barbara (née Beevor) for over 65 years.  Loving father of Douglas (Cathy) of Calgary, David (Jodi), Beverly (Rob), all of St. Thomas, Deborah, residing overseas, and Alison (Andy) of Horseshoe Valley.  Grandfather of Jordan (Ali), Scott (Sarah), Brady, Riley, Cassie, Austin, and Quin.  Great grandfather of Cohen and Maisie.  Harry was a true gentleman with a dry sense of humour, who loved his family dearly and took great pride in his role as a son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born in Montréal, on January 15, 1928.  A retired secondary school teacher, having taught at A.V.S.S. and P.C.I., St. Thomas.  Harry was an avid curler, woodworker, outdoorsman, loved a great crossword puzzle or game of solitaire.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday afternoon, December 4^th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held at the beginning of summer 2020.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged. Harry’s favorite time of year was Christmas.  In his honour, please help someone less fortunate during the holiday season. The family would like to express our sincere and grateful appreciation to Dr. Michael Cheng and the excellent nursing staff on the 4^th floor at the STEGH.
