ROOYAKKERS, Peter, age 63, Iron Man of our hearts, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on December 30, 2018, following a long illness. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Petra and Frits Rooyakkers, his beautiful niece, little Lindsay Jean, and his nephew and buddy, Jason. He was a devoted and loving husband to Claudette (Roo to all who love her), a cherished dad to Peter, Jonathan, Michael, Adrian, Miguette, and Alisha. He will be particularly remembered for the immense joy he felt being grandpa to Colby, Kylie, Izaiah, and Frits (the dog). He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Cory, Mary, Elly, Bill, Teresa, Terry, Larry, John, Stella, Betty, David, and their families. Much gratitude for all the care and support from his doctors and nurses, with a special shout out to the blessing that is Andrea Jackson, who Peter believed God made especially for him. Expressions of grief can be sent in his name to the charity of your choice. Peter’s family will be hosting a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 12 – 5 p.m. at the Masonic Centre of Elgin (42703 Fruit Ridge Line, St. Thomas, N5P 3S9). The family prefers you to dress casually for the celebration.
