BROUGHTON, R. Morris, of St. Thomas , passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 , in his 89th year.  Beloved husband for 65 years to Hazel (née Fry) Broughton.  Dearly loved father of Richard (Julie), Brenda Marshall (late Wayne ), Paul (Carol), Brian (Sue), and Mark (Tammy).  Cherished grandfather of Greg (Miranda), Chad , Kris (Chandi), Matthew (Randi), Joshua (Keli), Natalie (Matthew), Jarod (Meredith), Melissa (Ray), Michael (Lisa), Danielle (Derek), and Shannon (Alex).  Also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late William.  Born in Fort Frances , ON, March 12, 1930 , son of the late Rev. Oliver E. and Marion (née Smith) Broughton.  As his father was a Baptist minister, Morris lived in a number of communities in Ontario while growing up.  He and Hazel came to St. Thomas in 1957.  Morris was a former longtime manager of Ostranders Jewellers, St. Thomas .  He was an active member of Centre Street Baptist Church , where he was a former trustee.  A trombonist, Morris played in a number of bands over the years.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St. , St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday evening, July 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m.   The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Centre Street Baptist Church , 28 Southwick St. , St. Thomas on Wednesday, July 4th at 11:00 a.m. , followed by a reception in the church.  Following cremation, private interment will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park .  Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Centre Street Baptist Church will be gratefully acknowledged.
