Obituary of Dorothy Alway (nee Bell)
Of St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Harry C. Alway (2021). Dearly loved mother of Darlene Oke (James), Raymond Alway, and Merrilee Fishback (John). Cherished grandmother of Breanna (Gabriel), Kevin, Tressa (Wyatt), Alex, and Xandria. Dear sister of Dr. Aletta Bell, and dear sister-in-law of Edward “Ted” Alway (late Erna) (late Doreen), and Eileen Spitzke (Bill) (late Ron Alway). Also fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families. Predeceased by siblings, Lorelie Downey (late Marvin), Effie McTavish (late Robert), Milton Bell (late Jean), Ruby Alexander (late Harold), Archibald Bell, Gordon Bell (late Anne), and Sheila Westlake (late Al).
Born in Kincardine Township, ON, August 1, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Viola “Violet” (née Husk) Bell. Dorothy was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, St. Thomas.
The funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Eastwood Baptist Church, 400 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. (Visitation prior from 10:00-10:50 a.m.).
