Obituary of Stewart A. "Stew" Barnum

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Stewart A. “Stew” Barnum of St. Thomas, in his 84^th year. Dad passed away May 17, 2024, in his beloved Haliburton and has now been reunited with the love of his life, Judy (née Alexander) (2017). His children, Vicki-Lynn Keil of Listowel and Jamie Barnum of West Guilford will miss him deeply. Dad also leaves behind his grandchildren, Josh Keil (Lainie) of Listowel, and Nathan Keil and his fiancée Meghan Kerrivan of Mount Pearl, NL, as well as his great-granddaughters, Natalie and Kenzie. Dad will also be missed by his brother-in-law, Frank Hough and his children, Steven Hough (Kirsty) and Christy Gee (Ian). Dad was predeceased by his parents, Kathryn “Kay” (née Stewart) Barnum and Arnold Barnum, and by his sister, Patricia “Pat” Hough.

For thirty years, Dad served with the St. Thomas Fire Department, retiring in 1996 with the rank of Captain. Once retired, he and our mother spent a few weeks each winter in Florida. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed a good round of golf.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160), followed by interment in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
