Obituary of Rose Shaver (nee Carter)

Formerly of St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully at her retirement residence, The Court at Pringle Creek, Whitby, on Friday, December 29, 2023, in her 93^rd year. Beloved wife of the late Paul Shaver (2002). Dearly loved mother of Leise Warner (Ray) of Whitby, Martin Shaver (Ypie) of Lower Woodstock, NB, and the late Richard Shaver (2020). She was proud of her grandchildren, Adam (Rachelle), Melissa, Paul, Glenn, Lloyd, Thomas, and Stephanie, and her great grandchildren, Ella, Kiera, Kenleigh-Rose, and Lennox. Rose is also fondly remembered by Leona and Tom Bond, and by her nieces, cousins, and friends.

Rose was born on March 14, 1931 in Niagara Falls, ON. She was the daughter of the late John Lionel Carter and the late Rose Lillian (née Hopkins) Carter. Rose lived the greater part of her life in St. Thomas. She was a member of the Lady Trainmen Sisters of Unity.  

Cremation has taken place.  A service to celebrate Rose’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. Relatives and friends will be received by the family prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.
