Obituary of Jean (Wilson) Lammiman
“Jean” Rosina Jeanette (Wilson) Lammiman - In her 100th year, and after a wonderful time of dancing at her 99th birthday party, Jean went to heaven on October 20, 2023, embraced by the love of her family and music. Jean was born in Port Stanley on October 6, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (née Brookes) Lammiman. Dear sister of the late William, Clare, Laura, Ivy and Irene. Predeceased by her husband, Earl Wilson and soulmate, Bill Keefer. Dearly loved mother of sons, Kenneth Owen Wilson (Mary), John Edward “Tubby” Wilson (Mary), late George Alfred Wilson (October 10, 1965), late Dennis Alan Wilson (February 12, 2017) (Rona), and daughters, Elizabeth Ellen “Betty” Rewbotham (Charlie), and Diana Lynn O’Brien (Denny). Jean was so proud to have celebrated 5 generations of family legacy…6 children, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was a cherished and fun grandmother to Mark Wilson (Sandra), Alan Wilson (Kathryn), Brian Wilson (Renee), Jeff Wilson (Sue), Stan Wilson (Kim), Greg Wilson (Rachel), Janice Wood (Dan), Sherri Doner (John), Melanie Wilcox (Jeff), Sue Anne McCallum (Josh), Sharon Wilson, Scott Wilson, Tammy Tapsell (John), Lori-Ann McIntee, Rob McIntee (Heather), and Dawn Jones (Scott). Jean will also be missed by her dear friends and staff at Metcalfe Gardens, and especially Dina Krul.
Jean worked very hard all her life, from tobacco and farm work, to nursing assistant, to a prep cook and housekeeper for many years on lake freighters with the Upper Lakes Shipping Company. She was an adherent of First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church. Jean was a Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Last Post Branch #410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley.
For the past 11 years, she had found absolute joy and happiness at her home at Metcalfe Gardens. A heartfelt thank you from the family to her friends and “staff friends” who added meaning to her everyday life. Much gratitude and a grateful heart to the Elgin-St. Thomas EMS when mom fell, to Dr. Sellan, Dr. Black, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Collins, Dr. Hug, and the emergency nurses. A special thank you to all the kind, caring, and compassionate staff of the 2nd floor…you are angels in uniforms!
A funeral service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church, 6071 Fairview Road, St. Thomas on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 3:00 p.m., followed by interment in Union Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial donations to the STEGH Foundation or First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church will be gratefully acknowledged.
