Condolences To Marion's family. I have fond memories of Marion as a teacher and as a friend. My dad and I would go in for coffee a lot of times when we worked the land on her place. Dad rented the ground for many years which made for lots of coffee and conversation. I miss those days. May she smile down on us now with the love she showed in life.
Sincerely,
George Lunn and family

Dear Family
Marion Orchard left a legacy that will be celebrated for many years. She was an outstanding teacher, a positive mentor and a caring colleague. She offered her assistance and advice whenever asked. Her humility and generosity in offering wonderful practical strategies was applauded by everyone who invited her into a classroom. I felt that I was in the presence of the guru of primary education when I was introduced to Marion as the coordinator for the Elgin Board of Education.
Everyone was elated when Marion attended RWTAO OR RTO meetings in her retirement years. Her memory was unmatched. I attended a social function at the Bobier Villa pre Covid and Marion greeted all participants with grace and warmth. She had a strong faith and I am certain that she was welcomed by the angels and her friends and family as she entered her new home.
Honouring the life of someone very special who will always be remembered. With sympathy and thanksgiving for having known such an incredible woman...Fran Wren

Marion taught all five of us at Scott Street Public School and she was always a positive and encouraging professional. She sent letters when I graduated from high school and university, but our connection goes back long before as my father grew up in the same neighborhood. He tells stories of her as a young teacher in Shedden and if she forgot something at home she would send Neil to go get it. I imagine it was as much to keep him busy and focused as anything. I have such fond memories of Miss Orchard.

It was with deep sadness that I read of Miss Orchard's passing. I, too, was a pupil of Miss Orchard's in Grade One at Scott Street Public School. She brought such joy to her teaching and made every pupil feel valued and included each and every day. One of the highlights of the day was the Rhythm Band where, again, each child was made to feel like an integral part of the performance. Years later, when meeting once again, she remembered each and every aspect of those days and we chatted about other students who had gone to school with me, Miss Orchard remembering each and every one. It was an honour and a privilege to have been a pupil of Miss Orchard's and it is a tribute to her that so many followed in her footsteps as educators. May her family find peace and comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the many lives she has touched.

My sincere sympathy to Miss Orchard's (Marion's) family. Most of my siblings and I were fortunate to have had 'Miss Orchard' as our Grade 1 teacher at Scott Street Public School. What a beautiful, kind, patient and friendly teacher! About 25 years ago I reconnected with this wonderful lady to share, that she along with my late father Lloyd Auckland, inspired me to become a teacher. Marion will be remembered for many things, a few being her yearly Grade 1 Rhythm Band, which was always entered in the Rotary Music Festival and her beautiful handwriting! She was an excellent educator, who will not be forgotten by those she taught and worked with.
On behalf of Joan, David, Steven and Richard Auckland,
Sandra Mortensen

Marion was a marvellous teacher, very kind and supportive and a good friend. I remember her days as a Sunday School teacher as well. She would often let me sit with her when mom was playing the organ in church. She allowed me to use pen and paper to amuse myself during the sermon.
Marion also had a big part in my decision to become a teacher. Her standards were very high but I did my best to follow her lead. I loved to hear the stories that she would tell without a book, just using her voice and gestures. She was awesome.
My mother Dorothy was a great friend to Marion for most of her life. They are now together rejoicing in heaven.
I send my condolences to the family and may God comfort you in your loss.

Miss Orchard...my grade one teacher at Scott Street School, 1961-62. I always and forever will think of her when "The Wizard Of Oz" is mentioned. She read it to us that year. There was a young girl named Dorothy in our class, and the thought of the tornado frightened her, so she changed Dorothy's name to "Marion" for the remainder of the book. She was a wise and wonderful educator. We all enjoyed the days that she would bring Jim to visit with us. My sincere condolences to all that loved her.
