In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30th from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Masonic Centre of Elgin, 42703 Fruit Ridge Line, St. Thomas, with the service to celebrate Ross’s life to follow at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will be made in Hunter Cemetery, Lake Line, Southwold Twp. at a later date.

Formerly of RR1, Port Stanley, passed away at the Elgin Manor on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 83. Beloved husband for 58 years to Carole (née Ramsay) Rieger. Dearly loved father of Sandra Rieger (Eric Berdan), and Steve Rieger (Susan). Cherished grandfather of Steven and Shannon Berdan, Katelyn and Ryan Rieger. Dear brother of Ray Rieger (Linda), Sally Butcher (Michael), and the late Blake Rieger (Carol). Ross is also remembered by his uncle, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

 

Ross was born on Pelee Island, ON, January 8, 1939. He was a son of the late Carl and Edna (née White) Rieger. Ross was retired from farming and trucking, and continued to enjoy being surrounded by nature and his family on his farm for many years. He bravely battled Parkinson’s disease before passing away peacefully in the company of his wife.
