Obituary of Merle R. Brown

Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at Terrace Lodge, Aylmer on Monday, September 19, 2022, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Joan (née Wellman) Brown (2011). Dearly loved father of Gary (Carol), Bev (Chris), and Karen (Andrew). Cherished grandfather of Justin (Emma), Blake, Jennifer (Dennis), Dr. Luke (Lucy), Mitch (Lauren), and Nathan, Proud great grandfather of Isabella and Lennon, Tyler, Rachel, and Holly, Liv and Lincoln, Nora and Jordan, and great great grandfather of Sonny.  Merle is also remembered by his in-laws, Marilyn, David and Rikki, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. He was the last surviving member of his own immediate family, having been predeceased by siblings, Gertrude, Kay, Evelyn, Calvin, and Leighton.

Merle was born in Port Rowan, ON, February 6, 1930. He was a son of the late Blake and Mary (née Godson) Brown. Merle was a retired sales manager with Elgin Parkes Wholesale Ltd., St. Thomas. He formerly attended Grace United Church and New Vision Community Church, St. Thomas. Merle was a former avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and private interment will be made in Bayview Cemetery, Port Rowan. Merle’s family will celebrate his life privately.  Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
