VICARY, Mary Elizabeth Ann “Beth” (née Turner) - Of Southwold Township, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, June 9, 2022, in her 89th year.  Beloved wife for 69 years to Donald M. Vicary. Dearly loved mother of Alison Vicary (Dave Davidson), Jamie Vicary, Glenn Vicary (Jacque), and Leigh Vicary. She was proud of her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Dave Turner (Maureen) and the late Mike Turner (late Linda). Also remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families, Beth was born at home, Gore Rd., Southwold Twp., ON, May 21, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Duncan and Sylvia (née Campbell) Turner.

 

Beth was a graduate of the St. Thomas Collegiate Institute and Fanshawe College. She was a partner with her husband on their dairy farm near Shedden, was employed for many years with Tuck Aluminum, St. Thomas, and became a customer service representative for the Ontario Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 8 years until retirement. Beth was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas. For many years she sang in the church choir, the West Elgin Choral Society and other community choirs with her husband. She was a life member of the Shedden Women’s Institute, and Golden Acres Chapter #305, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a former volunteer secretary/treasurer of the Elgin County Pioneer Museum. Beth was a great gardener.

 

In keeping with Beth’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  By appointment, relatives and friends will be received by the family for a memorial visitation at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Thursday, June 16th after 6:45 p.m. Please call the funeral home (519-631-1160) between 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to register your time preference. A private family memorial service will be held at the funeral home. All in attendance at the visitation and service are kindly asked to wear a mask.

 

Memorial donations to The Arthritis Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
