Of St. Thomas, passed away at the Elgin Manor, RR1, St. Thomas on Thursday, February 17, 2022, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Carol (née Fleming) Duin (2000).  Dearly loved father of George Duin (Deborah), and Julie Duin.  He was proud of his grandchildren, John Duin (Melanie), Jordan Duin (Isabelle), Marissa Vecchio, and Bradley Deeks. Brother of Elizabeth Gravelle (Roger), Ben Duin (Wil), Leo Duin (Ann), Paul Duin, late Peter Duin (late Sally), and the late Len Duin. John is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and their families. Born in Beverwijk, The Netherlands, January 4, 1940, he was a son of the late Gysbertus “George” and Margaretha “Margaret” (née Mulder) Duin. John was a retired quality control inspector at Ford Motor Company of Canada’s St. Thomas Assembly Plant.

 

By invitation, a private funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas. A properly worn mask is required and physical distancing will be followed. Interment in Union Cemetery. Flowers respectfully declined.  Memorial donations to the Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Centre or the Canadian Raptor Conservancy may be arranged for by contacting the funeral home (519-631-1160) and will be gratefully acknowledged.
