LOVELOCK, Verna (née Purvis), formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at Terrace Lodge, Aylmer on Friday, December 22, 2017, her 96th birthday. Wife of the late Carl V. Lovelock (1989). Mother of Paul Lovelock (Nancy) of St. Thomas, Rick Lovelock (Suzanne) of RR1, Port Stanley, and Mary McCoubrey of St. Thomas. Also survived by sister-in-law, Carol McGugan of Point Edward, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Verna was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by a sister, Jean Crabe, and by brothers, Jack, Bill, and Murray Purvis, Donald, and Jim McGugan. Born in Blenheim, ON, December 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Verne Purvis and the late Alma (née Embury) Purvis McGugan. Verna was formerly employed at the Alma College, St. Thomas. She was a member of the St. Thomas Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Saturday afternoon, December 30th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Memorial donations to The Lung Association will be gratefully acknowledged.
