On Saturday, January 1, 2022, James (Jim) passed away peacefully in his 64th year, with family by his side, at LHSC, Victoria Hospital. 

 

Beloved son of Marion (née Hamilton) Tews and the late John Charles Thomson. Dear brother to Annette Van Buskirk (Phil), of London, Jeff Thomson (Janet), of Kitchener and Suzette Jordan (John), of London. Fondly remembered Uncle of Christy, Jake, Christopher, Monica, Cynthia and Nicole.

 

James enjoyed a successful 31-year career at CN Railway in roles of Mobile Radio, Signals, Engineering (performing structural testing on railway bridges) and finally, providing expertise to guide incident resolutions in the Engineering Control Centre. 

 

He loved cars and his adventurous nature and unquenchable thirst for knowledge led him to develop many interests. He was a black belt in Karate, trained in UFC Brazilian Jujitsu and Kendo. James enjoyed wood working, lapidary and so much more.

 

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Victoria Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for their help and kindness in caring for James. 

 

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to immediate family. A properly worn mask is required and physical distancing will be adhered to. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of James are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. 

Arrangements
