Obituary of Jeanne Ditz (nee Hedegard)

Of St. Thomas, age 87, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  Mother of Douglas Abra, Maureen Davis (Dennis), Daniel Abra, and Murray Abra (Cheryl).  Sister of Richard Hedegard (Bernadine).  Also survived by many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and her two nieces; Richelle Meyers and Laura Walter.  Jeanne was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Abra, a sister (infant) Dorothy Marie Hedegard,  nephew David Hedegard, and spouses Cecil Abra, and Tony Ditz.  Born in Chatham, ON, May 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (née Giffin) Hedegard. Jeanne was a 1955 graduate of the Chatham Public General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Sarnia, Strathroy, and for 19 years in St. Thomas at the Valleyview Home. Jeanne enjoyed art, poetry, playing the organ, gardening, and oil/watercolour painting.

 

By invitation, a private visitation and private funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, attendance numbers will be restricted, physical distancing will be followed, and a properly worn mask or face covering is required. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Flowers respectfully declined.  If so desired, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be appreciated.
