Obituary of Josephine Gustin (nee Dusic)
Of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Friday, November 5, 2021, in her 90th year. Beloved wife for nearly 60 years to the late Mirko “Mike” Gustin (2019). Dearly loved mother of Mike Gustin, and Steve Gustin (Laura Potts), and cherished grandmother of Michelle Gustin, Michael Gustin, and Cailyn Potts. Dear sister of Stevica Mavretic. Also fondly remembered by her in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families. Siblings, Marica Simrak, Anne Dusic, Baricta Mavretic, Anna Dusic, and Lovro Dusic predeceased her. Born in Dojutrovica, Croatia, May 4, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Mato and Slavica (née Rudman) Dusic. Josephine was retired from the housekeeping department at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. She was a member of St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church, London.
By appointment, relatives and friends will be received by the family for visitation at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday evening, November 12th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Please call the funeral home between 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to register your name, telephone number and your time preference.
In keeping with Josephine’s wishes, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church on Saturday, November 13th, followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery, St. Thomas.
Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, attendance numbers will be restricted, physical distancing will be followed, and a properly worn mask or face covering is required.
