Obituary of Ernest H. "Bud" Marr
Formerly of RR3, Shedden (Frome), passed away at Bobier Villa, Dutton on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in his 88th year. Beloved husband for 64 years to the late Melba (née Morrow) Marr (August 6, 2021). Dearly loved father of Dr. Julie Marr of Stoney Creek, Scott Marr (Yvette) of Frome, and Jamie Marr (Vera) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Brandon, Tyler (Christian), Lindsey, Jaime (Blaine), Dr. Danielle (Steve), Kelly (Scott), Grayson (Vanessa), Ashton (Matt), and Katie (Brayden). Also survived by his great grandchildren, sister, Marilyn Brown (late Roy), several nieces, nephews and their families, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Bud was predeceased by an infant granddaughter, Carly, and a sister, Joyce van den Berg (late Pieter). Born in St. Thomas, ON, May 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lillie (née Silcox) Marr. Bud was raised on the family farm which was settled by his great great grandfather in 1837. He formerly farmed, worked in construction, and was an investment advisor with Regal Capital Planners. Bud was a member of Frome United Church, and an active community volunteer. He served on the Township of Southwold Council, being a Past Reeve, and was a Past Warden of Elgin County. Bud was a founding member and a Past President of the Rotary Club of London South, a Past President of the Shedden Agricultural Society, and a member and Past Master of Warren Lodge #120, A.F. & A.M., Fingal.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). By invitation, a private service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held at Frome United Church. As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO), attendance numbers will be restricted and a properly worn mask or face covering is required. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be made in Frome Cemetery. It is hoped a public celebration of life for Bud and Melba will be held in the future when it is safe for all to gather. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the Bobier Villa re: Recreation Fund or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
