Obituary of William G. "Bill" Wood

WOOD, William G. “Bill” - Of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, in his 89^th year.  Beloved husband for almost 50 years to Carol Anne (née McCormack) Wood.  Dearly loved father of Matthew Chute (Kim Morrison) of London, Lisa Waite (Ian) of Pelee Island, and Michael Wood (Rachel) of St. Thomas.  He was proud of his grandchildren, Amy Dickson (Brad), Maddie Chute, Emme Chute, all of London, Britlee Wood, Lily Richardson, both of St. Thomas, and the late Jaden Wood (2007).  Dear brother of Judy Moore (late Del) of Jarvis, Kathe Riguidel (Dave) of Steinbach, MB, and the late Joy Faulkner (1983).  Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Tom and Barb McCormack of Burlington, as well as his nieces, nephews, and their families.  Born in Malahide Twp., ON, March 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Walter and Hazel (née Smithson) Wood.  Bill was a retired supervisor of maintenance/tool room at Therm-O-Disc, St. Thomas.  He was a well-known musician, having played guitar and bass in his own bands, as well as many others.  In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service.  Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
