CUDNEY, Gayle (née Griffiths) - Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at Parkwood Institute, London on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in her 75th year.  Beloved wife for over 45 years to Wayne Cudney.  Loved aunt of Russell Cudney (Nicole) of Booth’s Harbour, Karla Curtis (Bill) of St. Thomas, and Adele Burrows (Currie) of Calgary, AB.  Also remembered by her great nephews, Tyler and Lukas Curtis of St. Thomas, Brian and Nick Burrows of Calgary, AB, sisters-in-law, Karen Cudney (late Cecil) and Shirley Cudney (late Jim), both of St. Thomas, and dear friend, Drucilla Paul (David) of St. Thomas.  Predeceased by her mother, Ruth (née Seger) Griffiths (born in St. Thomas), father, Robert “Bob” Griffiths (born in Cardiff, Wales) and brother, Ernie Griffiths (late Joan).  Gayle was born in Vancouver, BC, December 24, 1946.  She was employed as a secretary at Fearn Ford for 25 years, and later worked at Zellers and with her husband at Ted’s Place, St. Thomas.  Gayle was a member of the Community of Christ, St. Thomas.  She was a Past President of the Lioness Club of St. Thomas, a member and Past President of the Lions Club of St. Thomas, and a Past Zone Chair of Lions District A-1.  Gayle was also member of Golden Acres Chapter #305, O.E.S., Shedden and a Past Secretary of Central Star Chapter #57, O.E.S., St. Thomas.  In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Gayle’s cremated remains will be interred privately in Elmdale Memorial Park at a later date. 

 

A celebration of life drop-in gathering will take place at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, 225 Chestnut Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, November 13, 2021 between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

 

Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, a properly worn mask or face covering is required, physical distancing must be followed, and proof of full vaccination along with government issued photo identification must be shown.

 

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lions Club of St. Thomas will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
