POWERS, John E. “Jack”- Of St. Thomas, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, in his 81st year. Husband of the late Marilyn (née Merritt) Powers (1988) and the late Albyna (née Patkus) Powers (2019). Father of Terry (Heather), George, Brian (Sandy), and Steve Powers (Christine). Step-father of Deb Goddard (Jim) and Christine Kozar (Dan). Brother of Gary (Kathy), Robert G. “Bob” (Jean), and the late William “Bill” Powers. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Born in St. Thomas, ON, October 9, 1939, he was the son of the late George M. and Mabel (née Kelly) Powers. John “Jack” was a retired GKN Sinter Metals, St. Thomas millwright. By invitation only, a private visitation will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) and a private service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged. Please note: As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO), https://thebao.ca/registrars-directive-changes-to-funeral-and-visitation-attendance/, funeral homes may only admit a maximum of 30% of capacity, and physically distanced. The BAO also currently requires all attendees and staff to wear face masks or face coverings at indoor visitations/funerals. People may be asked to remain in their vehicles until permitted to enter the facilities, as the BAO does not permit congregating in a parking lot outside of vehicles.
