AXSON, Helen S. (née Gatensby)- Of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in her 86th year. Beloved wife and best friend of the late J. J. Carl Axson (2009). Dearly loved mother of Michelle Wheatley and the late Kurt Axson (2019), and cherished grandmother of Shaun Wheatley (late Becky) and Bree Wheatley, all of St. Thomas. Loving sister of Shirley Amodeo (late Arthur) of Maple, ON. Dear sister-in-law of Frank St. Pierre (late Annette) of McKerrow, ON, Ronald Hillman (late Ruth) of St. Thomas, late Fred Axson, and the late Edward Axson. Helen is also fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and their families. Born in Toronto, ON, September 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eilleen (née Reynolds) Gatensby. Helen was an avid bingo player and loved animals. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service.
