FINLAY, Betty (née Dawdy), of Metcalfe Gardens, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, September 22, 2019, in her 89th year.  Beloved wife for 59 years to the late Dr. Ronald C. Finlay (2012).  Dearly loved mother of Bonny Houghton (James), Chris Finlay, and Dianne Couse (Bary).  Cherished grandmother of Joseph Houghton, Jasmine Patterson (Nick), Nikki Finlay (Cole Higgs), Matt Finlay (Autumn Mills), Steven Couse, Candace Couse (Haven Alexander), and Jaclyn Tolman (Chris).  Proud great grandmother of Kalan, Jaden, Juniper, Freya, Vance, Aiden, Oliver, and Edward.  Also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, March 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Georgina (née Boughner) Dawdy.  Betty was a member of the former Grace United Church, St. Thomas, where she was a member of the Ochre Unit of the U.C.W., and was a Past President of the Opti Mrs. of St. Thomas.  The funeral service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, September 26th at 1:00 p.m.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Thursday, prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Interment in McArthur Cemetery, RR1, Southwold.  Memorial donations to the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada will be gratefully appreciated.
