McAFFER, William O. “Bill” – Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at Terrace Lodge, Aylmer, ON on Sunday, August 25, 2019, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of the late Judith “Judy” (née Calder) McAffer (Oct. 7, 2014).  Dearly loved father of Scott McAffer, and Tracy Vervaeke (Charles “Chuck”), and cherished grandfather of Zachery Chase.  Dear brother of Jean Stephens (Murray), Marion Perley, late Archie McAffer and the late Robert McAffer.  Also fondly remembered by several in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Archibald and Marion (née Oliver) McAffer.  Bill retired from Ford Motor Company of Canada’s St. Thomas Assembly Plant, where he was employed as a plant service technician.  He was a member of Lord Elgin Branch #41, Royal Canadian Legion, St. Thomas, and a former member of Alma Street Presbyterian Church.  For many years, Bill enjoyed playing hockey.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).  Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to Community Living Elgin will be gratefully acknowledged.
