Obituary of Katherine Margaret "Kay" Fowler (nee Young)

FOWLER, Katherine Margaret “Kay” (née Young), of St. Thomas, passed away at Caressant Care Mary Bucke on Thursday, June 13, 2019, in her 94^th year.  Wife of the late James Franklin “Frank” Fowler (2009). Mother of Mary Kay Baker, and John Fowler (Suzanne), both of St. Thomas, and the late Mark Fowler (2012).  Grandmother of Kate Fowler, and Jonathan Fowler (Sarah), both of St. Thomas.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, February 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late H. J. “Rusty” and Katie (née Foote) Young.  Kay was a former elementary school teacher, beginning her career at Middlemarch SS#14, then continuing at Wellington Street Public School.  She attended Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas and was a former active member of Centre Street Baptist Church, St. Thomas.    Kay was a member of the St. Thomas Field Naturalists, the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, and the Elgin County Genealogical Society.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Private interment in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to Community Living Elgin or Animal Aide will be gratefully acknowledged.
