Obituary of Idamae Johnston (nee Campbell)

JOHNSTON, Idamae (née Campbell) - Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence, Caressant Care on Bonnie Place on Saturday, April 6, 2019, in her 83^rd year.  Beloved wife for over 53 years to the late Ray D. Johnston (2010).  Dearly loved mother of Brian Johnston (Shawna Lake) of London, Patti Somerville (Eugene) of RR1, Sparta, and Jason Johnston (Joanne) of St. Thomas.  Cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Chris), Kse (Matt), Jennifer, Ryan, Justin, Nathan (Julianne), Joshua (Kaley), Calla, Annessa, and Samantha (Dustin).  She was proud of her great grandchildren, Mason, Siniyah, Carter, Grayson, Kaelan, Amelyia, Jaxson, Paisleigh, Sawyer, Ava, Liam, and Ashton.  Loved niece of Doreen Dalton of St. Thomas, and Aleta Dalton of RR4, St. Thomas.  Also fondly remembered by several special friends, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.  Her siblings, Glenda Newman Smith, Nelson L. Campbell, and Donald W. Campbell predeceased her.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, May 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd C. and Valda (née Dalton) Campbell.  Idamae formerly worked at the switchboard at the STEGH and for Bell Telephone.  She was a member of the Community of Christ.  Idamae formerly volunteered at the Valleyview Home.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Community of Christ, 105 Fairview Ave., St. Thomas on Wednesday, April 10^th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11^th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to the Community of Christ, Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario, or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
