Obituary of Joyce "Joy" "Sandy" Sanderson

SANDERSON, Joyce “Joy” “Sandy”- Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, April 4, 2019, in her 94^th year.  She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Amelia (née Miller) Sanderson, as well as several brothers and sisters.  Joy is fondly remembered by her best friend, Beatrix “Bea” Horn, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.  Born in Listowel, ON, July 15, 1925, she was a resident of St. Thomas since 1951.  A Certified Psychiatric Nursing Assistant, Joy was an employee of the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital for 33 years.  She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Thomas, the St. Thomas Photographic Guild, and the St. Thomas Field Naturalists.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment of her cremated remains will be made in Holy Angels’ Cemetery, St. Thomas.  Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).  Sincere appreciation is expressed to Dr. David Gregory, VON and Care Partners.
