HARRIS, William D. E. “Bill”, of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2019, in his 80th year. Beloved husband for 50 years to Sue Ann (née Briggs) Harris. Dearly loved father of Richard Harris (Laura) of London, and Darryl Harris (Heather) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Eric, Carson, Cooper, Mikayla, Thomas, and Mairin. Dear brother of Noreen Harris (late Alan) of London, Judith Harris of St. Thomas, and Brian Harris (Penny) of Chatham. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Bill was predeceased by an infant daughter, Denise (1979). Born in St. Thomas, ON, April 1, 1939, he was the son of the late William T. “Harry” and Ivy (née Wigmore) Harris. Bill was a retired housekeeper at the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital. He was a member of St. Thomas Talbot Lodge #44, A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Hi-Ro Shrine Club of Elgin, being a former member of the Clown Unit. Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, January 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 1:30 p.m. Following cremation, interment will be made privately in Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to Shrine Hospitals for Children will be gratefully acknowledged. A masonic memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. under the auspices of St. Thomas Talbot Lodge #44, A.F. & A.M.
