Obituary of Shirley Gloin (nee Woodward)
Of St. Thomas, ON, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in her 88th year.
Beloved wife for 63 years to the late Raymond G. “Ray” Gloin (2019). Dearly loved mother of Norma (Steve), Judy (Bill), Ginny, and Norman. Cherished grandmother of Melissa, Anne, Martha, Olivia, Kade, Dennis, and Dominic. Shirley was proud of her great grandchildren. She is also remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families. Her brother, Bob Woodward (late Marjory) predeceased her.
Born in London, ON, October 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Vera (née Hair) Woodward. Shirley was a retired employee of the Elgin County Board of Education. She was a member of Central United Church, St. Thomas.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation, the Lung Health Foundation or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
The family are very grateful to Dr. Brendan Boyd for the special care he gave Mom, and to all of the Home Care, VON, and STEGH staff.
