Ronald F. "Ron" Grove

Obituary of Ronald F. "Ron" Grove

Of St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in his 76th year.

Beloved husband for 55 years to the late Paula (née Temple) Grove (March 8, 2026). Loving father of Tammy Ferguson (Currie), and Rhonda Farhat (Claude). Cherished papa of Braiden, Jenna, Darren, Taylor, and Alexa. Also survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in St. Thomas, ON, June 6, 1950, he was a son of the late Frederick “Fred” and Eileen (née Plain) Grove. Ron worked as a millwright for the Ministry of the Environment (OCWA) until his retirement. He was formerly crowned as the King of Yarmouth Heights Teen Club.

Ron’s family was extremely important to him, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He dedicated his life to caring for his family, by always putting them before his own needs.

Ron was a Mr. fix it. Whenever something needed to be done, he was the one man to call. He loved keeping himself busy whether it had been taking the kids to their sports events or tinkering in his garden. The neighbours would always compliment on how immaculate Ron and Paula’s yard was.

Family first was his motto and if you needed him, he would be there in a blink of an eye. He loved making people laugh in the most serious times, as he was a carefree, loving, and kind man. He loved to play music, especially Elvis, and dance his heart away.

If there are a few words to describe Ron, many would agree that he was a stand-up guy and a one-of-a-kind class act.

Special thank you to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, and the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin for the exceptional care of our father and papa.
