Obituary of Doris Howe (nee McLeod)

Of Shedden, ON, passed away peacefully at the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas on Monday, January 12, 2026, in her 83rd year.  Beloved wife for over 59 years to Kenneth “Ken” Howe. Dear sister of Rose Marie McLeod. Doris is also fondly remembered by her in-laws, Mary and Gary Begin, and her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 20, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Addie (née O’Neil) McLeod. Doris was the office manager of the London Life St. Thomas office for many years. She was a member of Frome United Church, where for many years she played the organ, piano, and was the choir leader. Doris was a Past Matron and Life Member of Golden Acres Chapter #305, Order of the Eastern Star, Shedden, a member of Areme Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star, Vienna, and a Past District Deputy Grand Matron.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. A memorial service under the auspices of Areme Chapter #15, OES, Vienna will follow at 5:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at the Southwold Keystone Complex, 35921 Talbot Line, Shedden on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception. Interment in McArthur Cemetery, Southwold Twp. at a later date. If so desired, please consider a memorial donation to the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario or the charity of your choice.
