Obituary of Doris Howe (nee McLeod)

Of Shedden, ON, passed away peacefully at the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas on Monday, January 12, 2026, in her 83^rd year.  Beloved wife for over 59 years to Kenneth “Ken” Howe. Dear sister of Rose Marie McLeod. Doris is also fondly remembered by her in-laws, Mary and Gary Begin, and her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 20, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Addie (née O’Neil) McLeod. Doris was the office manager of the London Life St. Thomas office for many years. She was a member of Frome United Church, where for many years she played the organ, piano, and was the choir leader. Doris was a Past Matron and Life Member of Golden Acres Chapter #305, Order of the Eastern Star, Shedden, a member of Areme Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star, Vienna, and a Past District Deputy Grand Matron.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. A memorial service under the auspices of Areme Chapter #15, OES, Vienna will follow at 5:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at the Southwold Keystone Complex, 35921 Talbot Line, Shedden on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception.
