Obituary of C. Larry Johnson

Of St. Thomas, ON, age 84, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Friday, September 19, 2025. Beloved husband for 58 years to Saverina “Rina” (née Ruggier) Johnson. Dearly loved father of Shelly Slyfield-Hall (Robert Lane), and Jeff Johnson (Cynthia Freiberg). Larry was proud of his grandchildren, Michael (Sherus), David (Emma), and Brandon (Mariah), and his great grandchildren, Hayden, William, Paisley, Andrew, and George. Dear brother of the late Wayne Johnson. Also fondly remembered by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families.

 

Born in St. Thomas, ON, August 29, 1941, he was a son of the late D. M. “Jack” and Lela (née Moore) Johnson. Larry was a retired employee of Ford Motor Company of Canada’s St. Thomas Assembly Plant. He was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas. Larry was a member of the C.A.W. Local 1520 Retirees Club, and a former member of the Elgin County Dream Cruisers, and Corvettes of Western Ontario.

 

Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels’ Church, 502 Talbot St., St. Thomas, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery, St. Thomas.
