Obituary of W. Perry Clutterbuck

Of Southwold Twp., ON, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2025, in his 89th year. Perry was born in St. Thomas, ON, September 14, 1936. He was a lifelong farmer, living on the family farm.

Beloved husband and best friend of Mary (Orchard) Clutterbuck for over 65 years. Dearly loved father of Brent Clutterbuck and his wife Lori, Beth Stire and her husband Chris. Cherished grandfather of Isaac Clutterbuck and Meghan Clutterbuck. Dear brother of Ray Clutterbuck (Marjorie), Mary Gordon (Don), and Marg Beecroft (Alex). Perry is missed by his in-laws, Glenn and JoAnn Orchard, Keith and Sandy Orchard, Rev. Neil and Judy Orchard, Roy and Anette Orchard, Dana Orchard, Carol Orchard, and Christina “Chris” Clutterbuck. Also fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and their families. Predeceased by his parents, L. Douglas and Florence (Lethbridge) Clutterbuck, brother, Robert “Bob” Clutterbuck, and in-laws, Sandra (House) Orchard, Hugh Orchard, and Dorothy “Dot” (Chaplow) Orchard.  

Perry served on Southwold Township Council for 18 years, concurrent with 9 years on Elgin County Council. He was a councillor, Deputy Mayor, and served as Mayor for 6 years. He was the Warden of Elgin County in 1998. Perry was a volunteer firefighter with Southwold Township for 37 years. He served on the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority Board for many years, and was a former member of the Southwold War Memorial Committee.

A private funeral service at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160), followed by interment in Fingal Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at a celebration of Perry’s life at the Southwold Keystone Complex, 35921 Talbot Line, Shedden after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Flowers respectfully declined. If so desired, please consider a memorial donation to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation.
