Obituary of Ronald P. "Ron" Hillman
Of St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully at his residence, following a long battle with cancer and congestive heart failure, on Friday, February 14, 2025, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (née Axson) Hillman (2016). Dearly loved father of Jacqueline Swindall (Steven), Robert Hillman (Mary-Ellen), Raymond Hillman (Elaine), Jan Hillman, late Joanne Mizon (Don), and the late Judy Brown (Daniel). Lovingly remembered by his dear friend Helen Beaton. Dear brother of the late Maxine Van Horne (late Charles) and late William “Bill” Hillman (Nora). He will also be missed by his 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in St. Thomas, December 12, 1935, he was a son of the late William and Elsie (née Johnston) Hillman. Ron was a retired assistant superintendent at the Central Elgin Water Station, Port Stanley. He was a member of the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre for 25 years, with 11 years on the Board of Directors, and a member of the 55+ Club, Port Stanley.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, 225 Chestnut St. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre will be gratefully acknowledged.
