Obituary of Frances I. DeVries (nee Keleher)
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Frances DeVries at Festival Gardens in St. Thomas with family at her side on Saturday January 25, 2025, in her 84th year.
She was the dearly loved mother of Annemarie Rongve (Ian), Michael DeVries (Tracy), and Donnaleah DeVries. Cherished grandmother of Emary DeVries (Drew), Madelynn Hubbell, Rhys Rongve, Olivia Noel, Lukas Rongve, and loving great grandmother of Mason DeVries.
Frances was a daughter of the late Francis and Verna (née Taylor) Keleher. She was a dear sister to Wilma Ward (Gerry), Nancy Knight (late John), late David Keleher, late George Keleher (Wendy), late Brian Keleher, late Peter Keleher, and the late Verna Keleher who died as a child. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews.
Frances was a light in the lives of all who knew her. She was so kind and generous to everyone, and she had a wonderful sense of humour. Mom loved life. She loved laughter and practical jokes. Most of all, she loved her entire family fiercely and unconditionally.
AND……she loved to dance.
A celebration of life open house will be held at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, 225 Chestnut Street on Saturday February 1st, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Joanne Brooks Room. Light food and refreshments will be available, and a selection of Mom’s favorite music will be playing in the background. Please come and remember Fran with us.
If so desired, please consider a memorial donation to the Eastwood Housing Corporation, a non-profit organization that has been ministering in St. Thomas by providing affordable housing. Frances was fortunate to live at Festival Gardens where she had many lovely neighbours. For information on how to remit your donation, please contact the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
